Mert Koçal
Mert Koçal is a director with roots in documentary filmmaking, approaching every project with a genuine interest in authenticity and human stories. Through his work in the last 10 years on National Geographic productions, he was fortunate to collaborate creatively with both local and international directors, exchanging ideas and getting a closer look at the power of emotion-driven storytelling. Whether in documentaries, short films or commercials, he tries to tell stories using a cinematic yet unconventional and naturalistic language—one that gently draws the viewer in, leaving a quiet emotional echo long after the screen fades to black. Since he personally handles most of the editing, music scoring and design himself, he follows a holistic approach to filmmaking from start to finish, always trying to make sure every decision supports the heart of the story.
